Daniël Bertina (1980) /// journalist, art critic, writer, dramaturge and translator. He has a master’s degree (drs) in Theatre Studies (University of Amsterdam) and writes for several publications – among which the Art & Media section of the Amsterdam-based newspaper Het Parool, JCK Magazine, Cultuurpers, Holland Festival, Inverted Gear, FloGrappling, Plein Primair, De Nationale Onderwijskrant, SpeZiaal, De Dodo, BJJLegends, Lost & Found Magazine, Mister Motley, Svet a Divadlo, Glamsterdam, Theater! and Springdance Magazine.

He writes reviews, reports, interviews and impressions about subjects ranging from contemporary theatre, the visual arts (photography, cinema, street art, painting), martial arts and combat sports, new media, as well as underground and mainstream music and pop culture. As a critic and researcher he is a former member of the Domein voor Kunstkritiek, the Corpus Kunstkritiek critics collective and a former board member of Studio Dubbelagent theatre company.

Furthermore, he works as a script translator for several television & online production companies. Additionally, he worked as a contributing editor, researcher & all-round art guy on Motel De Jong, Fotostudio De Jong and Holland Festival Special – all live tv-programmes for the Dutch network VPRO. He also holds the rank of 2nd degree black belt (faixa preta, 2 grau) in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu under Professor Marcos Flexa of Carlson Gracie Holland.
